Live set editing

Multi-camera show footage cut into full-song videos or a full set, with the sound taken from the board and matched to the picture.

What you get back

Full-song cuts

One song, start to finish, switching between angles with the music. These are the videos people share after a show.

Full set film

The whole show as one video, with the gaps between songs trimmed and any dead time cut out.

Clips from the set

Short vertical moments pulled from the same footage. See promo clips.

Syncing cameras and audio

Every camera starts recording at a different moment, and phones drift a little over a long set. We line each source up to the main audio by its waveform, check the sync again at the end of the set, and correct any drift. A clap or a flash on camera at the start of the show makes this quicker, but it isn't required.

For the music itself, the board mix or a multitrack recording almost always beats the camera microphones. A board mix on its own can sound dry and quiet in the crowd, so we blend in a little room sound from the cameras to bring back the cheering and the space.

Cutting between angles

A live edit follows the music. Cuts land on beats and phrase changes, the camera finds the guitarist before the solo starts, and the wide shot comes back when the whole band hits together. With two cameras, one usually holds a wide shot of the stage and the other stays closer on the singer. Three or more angles give room for drum and hands shots. A phone at the side of the stage adds a view the crowd never sees.

Questions

Can you use footage fans posted or sent us?

Yes, if the people who filmed it are happy for you to use it. Ask them for the original files, since clips saved from social apps are compressed.

Can you fix a bad note or a missed cue?

We can cut around a moment using another angle or another take, but we don't change your performance or the audio. If you want the mix touched up, that's a job for your mix engineer before we start.
